- : I've had nothing but trouble with my sprotser 28.8 , and there tech
- : support is a joke. They
- : told me on three different occasions that they would call me back and
- : never did, this is
- : after waiting on hold (long distance no 800 number here) for 20
- : minutes. I've also tried
- : just waiting on the line for a tech to pick up the phone. I waited
- : about 20 minuets when
- : somebody picked up the phone then hung it back up. I finally told one
- : of the people with
- : no technical skills please just send me a new modem, I got my modem
- : with the same
- : exact problems it had when I sent it away I finally just went out and
- : bought a supra. It
- : works just fine.

- The problem with the Sportsters, though true, has been fixed some months
- ago. I would, however, agree that the support for Sportsters is less
- than desirable. The Courier support, on the other hand, is excellent.
- Couple that with a superb product and you got a winner.
-
- Maybe you should try a couple of brands concurrently to find one that
- best suits your needs. There are a lot of computer stores that have a
- generous 30-day return guarantee.
-
- I tried several brand names including the Motorola Power 28.8, Sportsters
- Vi and DSVD, Cardinal, Practical Peripherals, and yes, even a Boca, but
- found the Courier to be the best one in both connect and transfer rates
- to my ISP providers. I get 28.8 connect all the time and 3.0k ftps using
- PPP. I was experiencing mostly sub 2.75k ftps with the other modems. As
- usual, your particular situation may differ significantly.
